Legal Advice Centre (University House) is one of the oldest legal advice agencies in London, founded in 1941, and was the first one to be established in Bethnal Green. The Centre provides a free and independent legal advice service to people who live or work in England and Wales.
We can provide housing advice on some issues under Legal Aid funding. If you are not eligible for Legal Aid, we may still be able to provide limited housing advice.
We can take referrals for hearings throughout London for representation. We are not limited to our normal catchment area for these cases and welcome any clients or organisations who need assistance for First Tier Tribunal cases.
We can support clients to use their Legal Expenses Insurance; such as to fund their employment tribunal or education law claims.
With the introduction of our remote access case-management system and Skype we are now able to assist lawyers to take part in our work from the comfort of their own desks, whilst we sit with the client in our office in Bethnal Green. We are also using this package to develop our outreach projects.
We have specialist employment advisers available by appointment
